This Little Baby Book of Experiments

So, a few weeks’ ago I bought a baby’s board book to experiment with. Inspired by Olivia Lane’s fabulous layered covered board book (see it here) and with Daily Paper Prompt ##33 Layers in mind, I set to work altering the cover of “This Little Baby”:

First of all, I sanded it a little:

Then added a layer of clear gesso mixed with white acrylic paint:

Next, I stopped taking photos and got to work with some fun layering – we have acrylic paint (applied with baby wipe & expired railcard), pattern tissue paper, a ripped piece of gift bag, a section of wordsearch, and cuttings from scrapbook paper and an old book. Last layer to go on was the word “experiments” which is what this book will be. Experiments with paint, collage, paper, cloth. Experiments with no rules and no expectations.

And when I get to the last page, I am confronted with a mirror:

I’m sure there’s some fun to be had with that!

This looks like a fun project, Viv! Can’t wait to see it unfold. I love that bubble quote in the top left corner: “What do you do–stamp collecting, drawing, carpentry?” Have fun!!

  2. It really does look like fun! Enjoy :)

I will reply to comments here on the blog, so please check back if you are looking for a response! I love hearing from you x
