Days Six and Seven: Most Enjoyable and Satisfying

30 Days of Get Your Ar On

A couple more days of 30 Days of Get Your Art On and I have done a little painting in journals, preparing a lilac page in one:

And starting a bit of a collage in another:

most enjoyable and satisfying

I’m not sure where I’m heading with either of these…but it’s the process that counts ;-)

And today I took my sketchbook along to the swimming pool. I was a little nervous, as this term I am not only watching Gman in his swimming lesson, but afterwards I am going for a swimming lesson of my own. I figured it was finally time I learned to swim properly! For those that can’t read upside down (!) it says “Intense dotty doodling to try & take my mind off impending swimming lesson. No, it didn’t really work! But I think it looks kind of cool!”

doodle & chair

I drew a chair, but was tempted to try drawing some people, after being very inspired by Rebecca’s sketches of people at her child’s karate class. Check her sketches out here.

Daily Paper Prompt #29 Swirly Writing

dpp #29 swirly writing

We are reaching a CROSSROADS. Times are changing; I can feel it in my BONES. I am not sure if I am ready for it. Can I really learn to embrace UNCERTAINTY and welcome CHANGE?

I don’t know, but I had fun with the swirly writing and doodles.

In response to Daily Paper Prompt # 29 – Swirly Writing.

So!

icad #52 v

Whenever you feel annoyed, whenever your mind goes bad, just say, “So!” When you feel better, just say, “So!” If you love someone just say, “So!” When you feel you’re getting angy, just say, “So!” Do you understand? You don’t have to go looking into the scriptures. Just “So!” Whatever arises, just tell it, “So!” It saves a lot of time.

The Earth Smiles in Flowers

so said Ralph Waldo Emerson… and here’s my silly, spontaneous, pink index card reminder:

A Bouquet of Doodles

So, today’s May Flower Challenge activity has been doodling flowers in my art journal. This is in an old Victory annual – I gessoed & watercolour painted the pages ages ago but never got round to using them until now:

Originally I thought I would *just* doodle flowers, but a page without any words didn’t seem quite right – so I added a few flower related quotes and lines of poetry – from Georgia O’Keeffe, William Blake, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Christopher Marlowe. My favourite flower, and my favourite poem/quote is this one from Basho:

The temple bell stops.
But the sound keeps coming
out of the flowers.

I love that!
