Happy Birthday, Dalai Lama!

Marking the Dalai Lama’s 77th birthday, today is Compassion Day:

icad #36 v

Ever since we first read Demi’s lovely picture book telling the life story of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, the boys have been quite fascinated by him. I think it was finding out that, as a child, he was really quite mischievous 😉 and liked to take things apart to see how they worked!

Anyway, Waif has written another of his poems in honour of the occasion:

  1. Andria says:

Aw, I love your little Dalai Lama drawing…that’s great!

    • vivjm says:

Ha ha, thanks Andria! I’m not sure it’s the best drawing, but think you can tell who it’s sposed to be at least 🙂

  2. Happy birthday, Dalai 🙂 Great quote also.

  3. Great post! I also posted yesterday about the Dalai Lama’s 77th birthday. It must have been a joyous occasion in Dharamsala- something amazing to behold! Thanks also for sharing the great drawings. May you be well!

  4. Ben Naga says:

You can take the man out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the man.

  5. Love your cards. I’m sure the Dalai Lama would be very touched. Esp. by that poem! Thanks for visiting my cards earlier this week! xx

  6. Awareness says:

When my son was about four he saw the “Damai Lama” on TV, and was transfixed. I think kids naturally connect with the DL’s good nature and joyful chuckle.

I think you are right about that. I first showed the boys a video of the Dalai Lama a couple of years ago, when my eldest asked me why monks always looked so serious! They have been transfixed by him ever since. Kids can be great judges of character 🙂

I will reply to comments here on the blog, so please check back if you are looking for a response! I love hearing from you x
