Vocabulary Building – Home Ed Style!

Last week we stumble across the superb “A to Z of Unusual Words” collection by the The Project Twins. The collection is described thus: “Bold graphics and visual wit are used to interpret and represent a collection of strange, unusual and lost words.” and you can see the pictures here. Sadly, we were too late to order one of the limited edition sets of postcards, so we thought we would make our own family A to Z. We have made it to F so far.

I kicked off with the letter A.Ā

Waif drew this super-cute bombilating bee:

Bombilateloudly hum or buzz continuously

B

And Gman plundered food:

C

The character in Waif’s next illustration is throwing a maths textbook out of the window!

d

Watch out for Gman’s disapproving audience!:

And Mama was suspended by a single thread:

f

The words were all taken from this list, if you fancy making your own A to Z!

Laughing my head off, these are brilliant. Please finish the alphabet so we can see the rest! Barenakedladies do an alternative alphabet song, I’ll dig around online and see if I can find it then send you a link.

  2. What a brilliant idea – the drawings are wonderful!

    [ Smiles ] Wow! Impressive!

    I really enjoyed your post.

Now, what are the chances of a person using these words in sentences as part of their everyday conversation?

I truly look forward to reading your next post.
