Day Four: The Beauty of Decay

in the garden 4th October 2012

15 minutes sketching in the garden today. Summer has gone, but there is much beauty still to be found in the garden.

I agree, there is so much beauty and interest to be found in the garden all year around. I like the half eaten leaves, shriveled flowers and dead beetles. The are all part of life, and have so much more character to draw

Thanks for your comment Alissa. I think it has taken starting to draw for me to really notice the beauty in ALL things really, not just the things that are conventionally supposed to be beautiful.

  4. Stefano says:

Flowers and sketching. You made a terrific combo!

  5. I really am enjoying your beautiful sketches Viv!! And the little accompanying notes too. May I know what pen you are using? So much creativity flowing from your hands! Loving it. Sharon

    • vivjm says:

Thanks Sharon, so happy to hear you are enjoying them. I have been using Faber Castell Pitt artist pens (mainly the “S” size tip, sometimes the “F”). I’ve started carrying my sketchbook & packet of Pitt pens round with me at all times just in case I see something interesting to draw!

  6. Mary Walker says:

Beauty of Decay how great is that I can imagine you admiring the tiny treasures in your garden as you were drawing.

I will reply to comments here on the blog, so please check back if you are looking for a response! I love hearing from you x
