I BRAVED THE COLD!!! WELL WORTH IT!!!!!
I started my hexagon quilt but I got it in my silly head that I wanted to do a Wizard of Oz STORY quilt!!! To use color to tell the story and visuals on the back! YEAH so I started collecting the right fabric in 2009! CRAZY RIGHT!!!
But It’s going to be my MASTERPIECE!!!
Till then I have to take satisfaction in watching you get yours done!!!
HAPPY QUILTING!!!!
Lol – nothing like an ambitious project!! I love the idea of the Wizard of Oz quilt – GET TO IT 🙂
I’m trying!!! The Color story is VAST!!! First black and white… then GREENS it’s so much and I don’t have a TONE of cash and EXPENSIVE taste!!!
It’s lovely! and the light from the snow is a great idea to show it off best. Are those your hand and feet showing, or is that your brave helper???
did you know that fresh fallen snow is a great idea for cleaning quilts and handmade rugs? you flop them down and lift them up fast, and all the dust is held in the snow, like magic! I do this with a hand hooked antique rug which can’t tolerate vacuuming or anything like that. This won’t apply to the work you’re showing though, just made me remember this old tip.
Thanks Liz! And I will make a not of the tip re cleaning quilts with snow – I have never heard of that!
Yes, that’s my hands and feet. My brave helper (12 year old son!) was the one with the camera though 😉
Wow!
🙂
supercool! many hours of stitching in there – is it by hand? Kudos for braving the elements too! 🙂
Many, many, many hours of hand stitching 🙂
Own up! You’re just trying to hide that milk maid top. 😛
Darn, you’ve caught me out 🙂
Oooh, love this! Will you use it as a quilt, table topper or a wall hanging? I can’t figure out from the pic.
Thank you! I’m kind of aiming for a full size quilt. Well, I’ll just keep adding ring after ring until I decide…it could end up as a house cozy if I can’t stop 😉
🙂
SUCH a gorgeous project! I love your “house cozy” comment, above…makes me smile! This is an heirloom, to be sure.
Aw, thank you – I enjoy making it so much, that I don’t really mind what it turns into – there will be plenty of memories & moments stitched in there 🙂
I’m glad you braved the cold because that quilt is looking more beautiful each time I see it.
Thank you, Janet, that’s very lovely of you.

Fabulous Viv! It’s just lovely : )
Aw, thank you 🙂
And it is appreciated. gorgeous work!
Thank you so much!
wow wow wow, how are you going to finish it… like make it quilt shaped… or is it going to stay hexagon shaped…? I cannot wait!
I think I will have to keep it hexagon shaped…it just seems the right thing to do. Probably when I get to the outer borders, I will use half-hexagons so at least I have a straight edge to bind but the overall shape will still be hexagon.
